Barack Obama Wins Pennsylvania
Voters in Pennsylvania on Tuesday cast their ballot for Barack Obama, giving the president the state's 20 electoral votes.
President Barack Obama has been declared the winner in Pennsylvania's general election, gaining the state's 20 electoral votes, according to CBS, NBC, ABC and the Associated Press.
In the 2008 presidential election, Pennsylvania voted for Obama, and since the 1990s, has voted for the overall winner of the presidential race three out of five times.
Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and Obama campaigned aggressively in Pennsylvania. The state has typically been a Democratic stronghold in recent presidential elections.
The economy was a key issue for many voters in the state, as was the environment – specifically fracking.
As she worked on one final get-out-the-vote effort Tuesday at Obama campaign headquarters in Dormont, Obama canvas director Chris Maggio cited the president's economic policies as a reason for her support. Romney offered no specifics in his plans for the nation's economy, she said.
Echoing that view was Maggie Zuraw of Canonsburg, who said she grew up in a Republican household but later became a Democrat because that party better represented her views.
"I believe that lifting up the middle class will bring prosperity back to everyone," Zuraw said. "I think that President Obama is thoughtful, methodical and intuitive.
"Romney himself said that it would take 10 years to bring the economy back. Obama has only had four years.”
Other voters said they leaned toward the president because of his efforts to ensure passage of the Affordable Care Act.
“I believe in Obama because I was on my mom’s health insurance," Maggio said. "I wouldn’t have coverage if it wasn’t for the new healthcare."
Christa Maier of Dormont, said she supported the president for his stands on women's rights.
"The Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act was an important initiative," she said. "I am pro-choice and I think Obama best represents my views.”
Romney spent part of Election Day making a brief campaign stop in Moon and Green Tree, and he visited Bucks County on Sunday, drawing 25,000 supporters.
On Monday, former President Bill Clinton was in Pittsburgh and the Philadelphia suburbs and Romney surrogates, including former Mayor Rudy Giuliani, swept through Eastern Pennsylvania, including a stop at Bethlehem's Westgate Mall.

Hmmm....Is that why? Mississippi, the Dakotas, Alabama, Kentucky, Tennessee, Utah, Kansas, Montana, Idaho, etc....all receive more government assistance than they pay back. They also receive more federal money than PA does. California and New York receive less than Texas.

No. It's because most Pennsylvanians aren't dumb and didn't vote to shoot themselves in the foot by electing a grand liar and lover of his fellow mega-buck, low tax-paying rich friends. They voted for people like most of us are: HARD WORKING FOLKS WHO ARE BEING HARMED BY THE REPUBLICAN BUSHIE YEARS NONSENSE. And the majority of us were smart enough not to want to continue that in spades with the Big Bain Job destroying money grubber.

Yes, Erin, historically, the "red" states receive more in federal aid of all kinds than they ever pay in taxes, blue states pretty much the opposite.
Which makes these whines about "welfare" even more ludicrous.

What hole, seems that unemployment is up, new rates will be coming out again and remember amusement park jobs and swimming pool jobs are gone for the summer. Lets see Gas is almost 4.00 a gal, when in 2008 it was 1.80, food has tripled in price, utilities have gone up. More people are on welfare than when Clinton was in office thanks to obama. He also spent 6 trillion on giving ceo's, upper management raises when he gave banks and the auto workers money. Detroit is still a mess too and no new jobs in the auto industry with his bailouts. Now he can't use his card of blaming the previous administration because that was him. Thank Goodness the House has remained Republican, now we just need to get the Senate the same way, before he can do much more destruction.

Unfortunately, the worst thing that happened in this election was that the miserable republican house remained republican, which means a continued road-block to everything that would move this nation back into a sensible and beneficial direction for more than the obscenely rich who have been practicing wealth redistribution in spades on the rest of us with republican cooperation. When the republicans like the wealthy paying 14% Income Tax while the rest of us pay through the nose (thanks to Bush 'tax breaks') just remember--unless you're a gazillionair, they're not doing anything good for you at all.

Remove the middle 'm' from Mormon to see who the real moron is (not to mention those who voted for him and his buddies). He and his sidekick are the guys who like low taxes for the 5%/1% which mean high taxes for the rest of us unless we want to watch the Bush created and republican continued deficit continue to rise. The worst thing that happened in this election is that the house sadly has the do-nothing republicans still in charge. Sad. Very Sad.
