Buffalo Wild Wings Gun Ban: What Do You Think?
Commenters express outrage on the business’s Facebook page after some of the company-owned restaurants post signs prohibiting guns on the premises.
Buffalo Wild Wings is attracting controversy after some of the chain’s company-owned restaurants began posting signs banning guns on the property.
KDKA reports photos taken at restaurants around the nation are popping up on social media sites of signs that say guns are not allowed inside the buildings.
The move has sparked outrage on the company’s official Facebook page.
"It's your right to disarm your customers as is our right to go eat elsewhere from now on to prevent becoming a victim,” said one poster. “I changed banks for the same reason.”
In a statement to KDKA, Buffalo Wild Wings' corporate headquarters said that while the company “respects the right of individuals to carry firearms. One of our top priorities is the comfort, safety and enjoyment of our Guests and we have elected to exercise our right to prohibit the carrying of firearms in our company-owned restaurants.”
The company told the news station it regrets any inconveniences, but “This long-standing position is in the best interest of our Guests and our Team Members. This position may vary in independently owned franchised locations.”
KDKA checked a few of the local Buffalo Wild Wings restaurants in Pittsburgh and found most of them currently do not have signs banning guns on their doors.
No such sign was at the Cranberry Buffalo Wild Wings location Friday evening.

They have the right to ban guns. We have the right to not patronize their business. This will be another gun free zone that a crazy person knows HE will be safe to start shooting. HE does not care about those signs except he knows HE is safe.

We have chosen to remove Buffalo Wild Wings from our list of restaurants due to the no gun rule. They absolutely have the right to ban weapons in their place of business, but this leaves me feeling less safe and vulnerable as a result and we will choose to dine elsewhere. You are NOT protecting your employees. You are placing them in danger because anyone with bad intentions knows that Buffalo Wild Wings is a safe place for him to shoot and not get shot back at!

From our Facebook Page: Robert Charles Loehr Jr I will still carry my gun regardless of some restaurant sign. I do not like this restaurant's food, so I would not go there regardless of the policy.I think it sends a message to potential thieves to rob this restaurant, since they would expect not to get shot.

Stephanie Davis Wow!! This is not the Wild Wild West. We don't need to carry guns everywhere we go. I don't pack heat and am not paranoid that someone would shoot me bc this is true. Scary mentality, in my opinion.

I totally back the Constitution, but I question why we need to carry a gun into a family restaurant? With proper permits, leave it in the car...you could be putting me at risk in the event of an accidental discharge or providing opportunity to someone unarmed that intends to commit a crime...

If someone has a permit to carry a concealed firearm it's must be just that, concealed
So these signs mean nothing to individuals who have such a permit as no one would ever know they were carrying. However if the business somehow knew thy could ask that person to leave as he business can refuse not to serve anyone for any reason really. . These signs re meant for people who open carry where the firearm would be visible by anyone . Myself as a concealed carry permit holder I would jut ignore the sign as if I am following the law my firearm must be concealed if I wanted to patronize this establishment. People do not realize just how many people carry concealed it is a large percentage of the populous especially in Allegheny County
