Expect More Delays on Thompson Run Road, McIntyre Road and Amity Drive

Ross Township Police officers will be on site to assist in controlling traffic through May 24.

Thompson Run Road will be reduced to a single alternating lane of traffic between McIntyre Road and just south of its intersection with Amity Drive, Wednesday, May 16 through Thursday, May 24 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., weather and conditions permitting.

The restrictions are necessary so contractors may work on the bridge just south of Amity Drive, according to The Allegheny County Department of Public Works department.

Ross Township Police officers will be on site to assist in controlling traffic.

Motorists should proceed with caution and expect delays on Thompson Run Road, McIntyre Road and Amity Drive.

Absolutely ridiculous. The detour is sufficient enough. Are these contractors drumming up reasons to have this delayed even more?

I have commented too many times about this construction site. Almost an entire year closing a major road while they repair a small bridge. It was supposed to open last November. Numerous times I drove by with no work being done from late Summer of 2011 until Spring of this year. The poor people on Amity have had their neighborhood ruined by traffic and now will surely have to have their road repaired in the near future from the increased traffic. The last story said that Thompson Run would be open by May of 2012. Does this last phase mean it will be done and opened by the end of the month? I sure hope so.

Having brought this debacle to the Ross Township Commissioners and County Council at more than one public meeting it is clear to me that no elected official appears to have a care about this project. It is simply disgraceful that both the contractor and our elected officials seem to believe they answer to no one.

I talked today with one of the Ross Commissioners who had plenty to say about the bridge project. I will be updating the story soon so check back.

I live on Thompson Run near the detour, I have seen the increased amout of traffic flow on amity, and how people speed and roll through stop signs. I was happy for the 1-2 weeks there was an unmarked police car pulling these people over and giving them fines and citations and what nots. It's ashame that the contractors who wear here to repair parts of thompson run road today worked longer and harder in one day then most of the bridge crew have in a while!
