Art Gazdik, the former Ross Township Engineer, will be joining PVE Sheffler as the manager of Water Resources and Municipal Engineering, he announced Monday.
PVE Sheffler is a locally-owned civil engineering consulting firm located in Sewickley, near the Wexford area.
Gazdik resigned from his position as Ross Township Engineer May 7. He had worked for the township for 13 years.
During his employment with Ross Township, Gazdik designed, managed or oversaw projects that included the new Ross Community Park and the Ross Township Municipal Building. He also implemented a GIS based pavement management program, coordinated the mapping, televising and repair of the Township’s sewer system and developed the Township’s first website and computer network.
He was awarded the American Society of Civil Engineers-Pittsburgh Section “Government Engineer of the Year award in 2003.”
Gazdik is also the project manager for the stormwater management and flood reduction effort that is being coordinated by the North Hills Council of Governments and is a member of Pennsylvania’s State Water Resource Advisory Committee.
He is also serving as a member of County Executive Rich Fitzgerald’s Vision Team, which advises the County Executive on environmental and water resource issues facing Allegheny County.
"It was great working for Ross Township as in-house Township Engineer for the past thirteen years," Gazdik said, in a written statement to the press.
"I just decided that it would be best to return to a professional work environment to finish my career," he said.
