Ross Township building code official and zoning officer Dan Hankins jokingly told the Ross Township board of commissioners Monday night that, "we are all in the wrong business."
Hankins was referring to site plans, which the commissioners approved 9-0, for a new mattress store at 7975 McKnight Road, just south of the Shoppes at Northway.
It will be the eleventh store to sell mattresses along McKnight Road.
The property had been home to Tuff Sheds, and many years before that, a gas station.
McKnight Road, over the years, has attracted a wide variety of mattress stores, and department or furniture stores, which also sell mattresses.
Take a look at the map to see the seven different places along a two-mile stretch of McKnight Road where mattresses are sold. In addition, mattresses are also sold at three different stores in Ross Park Mall.
Mr. Hankins may have a point.

I wondered when the recent store opened at McKnight-Seibert, why we need all these mattress stores. There was a mattress store at that location before and it moved or went out of business...
