The great thing about owning a new car is that new car smell, look, and shine.
The most frustrating thing about owning a new car is that preserving that smell, look, and shine is labor intensive or expensive, or both.
"What's on the shelf at most retail stores isn't necessarily going to be the best, or the easiest, but it's going to be the cheapest a lot of the times," said Autoality owner T. Eric Allan. "Everyone sells car wash, waxes, wheel cleaners, the difference is, you want one that works easier and lasts longer."
Allan, who has had an interest in car detailing since he owned his first car, decided to start his own business because he couldn't find stores that sold the speciality brands he wanted. He also sensed a need among do-it-yourself-detailers for not only good products, but good advice.
"70 percent of the brands we carry you won't find at any national chain," he said. "You'll also find here advice on how to properly detail your car. We are enthusiasts, when we're not working, we're researching the latest products online."
Allan may be an expert in keeping that new car look, but customers looking for mechanical advice will have to go somewhere else.
"I've never been able to fix a car," he said with a smile. "But I can get it looking better than anyone else."
