Ronald F. "Wooz" George

The former West View councilman and veteran of the U.S. Army was 76.

 

Ronald F. "Wooz" George, 76, of West View, died on Monday, May 16, 2011.

He was born April 5, 1935 in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Joseph H. and Anna (Gaus) George.

He was the husband for 54 years of Carole A. (Cummings) George; father of Donna (Jim) Crnkovic, Debbie (John) Logan, Pam (Tom) Flack and Beth (Jim) Cassandro; grandfather of Sarah, Heather, Michael, Johnathan, Jessica, Cara, John, Hannah and Carley; great-grandfather of Paul, Annabelle and Ethan; and a brother of Joseph (Alice) and Butch (Judy) George, Joanne (Bill) Perlik, Mary Lou (Leo) Tubridy and Nancy (Bill) DeTrude.

The family welcomed friends Thursday, May 19, and Friday, May 20, at Schellhaas Funeral Home Inc., 388 Center Avenue in West View 15229. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, May 22 in St. Athanasius Church. Interment followed in North Side Catholic Cemetery, Troy Hill.

Wooz was a member of the West View  Volunteer Fire Company, where he was involved for more than 50 years. He also was a member of the St. Athanasius Ushers' Club, a veteran of the U.S. Army and a past borough councilman in West View.

The family suggests donations be made to St. Athanasius Church, 7 Chalfonte Ave., Pittsburgh, 15229.
