So they will do 2 studies from our state taxes and local taxes, this is exactly what is wrong with government, maybe they could communicate and tell the state their is a need for a traffic study and instead of doing 2 studies maybe ask the state who they would like to use to do the study and then use that company so the result will be from the entity that the state uses so 2 studies won't have to be done. How about instead of studying this intersection, they CORRECT the McKnight - siebert rd intersection.... It's ridiculous !

Agreed. Or, even worse yet, one of the most poorly regulated set of adjacent intersections in the entire North Hills... Perry Highway @ 3 Degree Road and @ Sewickley-Oakmont Rd. Seems like it would take little more than re-programming these lights for better timing and synergy, but apparently that is too much to ask or "too complicated".

I agree with Jose. One study will be done, then another... then what? A traffic light? 4 way stop sign?

And so what? Look left, look right, cross the street. I believe the speed limit is 25. I would assume they are walking to Kmart or GIant Eagle. If they are going THAT distance walking, they are certainly healthy enough to make it across a street in a reasonable pace.

McKnightmare, I have a relative living in the Kane Center, and have seen people crossing McIntyre Road.. not only residents.. but also employees who are trying to catch PAT buses.

Or how about this, scrap the study and install a crosswalk and a flashing yellow light for the cars, until someone pushes the little button that turns the light red for the cars, cars stop and turns on the cross sign and then people can cross the street. Would seem much simpler, but we will have to pay a company to come out and tell us that.

Put a tunnel under the road .

Granted, some proposals are far-fetched (such as the bridge they were going to build at one point from Babcock to Ross Park Mall), but it would be nice to see actual efforts made to improve traffic.

The Three Degree intersection was, if I recall, set up with signals in 1968. 45 years should be enough time to think up something better or more efficient--what worked in 1968 clearly does not work now given the traffic volume. (Nor did it work 20 years ago--this has been a problematic spot for years).

Some fixes are extremely easy but are never done, even when the logical time comes. The traffic signals at Three Degree were replaced in December 2010 but the only thing that actually happened was the single wire installations were replaced with arm-mounted signals and yellow arrows were added to the protected turn signals. Nothing else changed.

The signals at Reis Run are pretty old now. Why not put in the turning lane?

As for Kane, a signal may be worth it for the pedestrian crossing aspect, but the street right up the hill (drawing a blank on the name) could make for another headache. Join the roads together if at all possible.

Also, McCandless needs a signal at Duncan/Ferguson/Thompson Run.
