An analysis of Ross Township police reports indicates a majority of the reported shoplifting cases in August occurred in Ross Park Mall. Considering the concentration of high-end retail shops, that may not be surprising.

Our analysis also revealed the following:

  1. In two cases, a mother and her juvenile daughter were charged. On August 1 Tennile Tomlin and her daughter were charged with stealing $433 worth of clothing from Ross Park Mall. On Aug. 12, Kate Spiker, 36, of Sharpsburg, and her 14 year old daughter were charged with stealing $7,390 in handbags and high-end purses from several Ross Park Mall stores.
  2. A total of $14,296.92 worth of merchandise was reported stolen by shoplifters in August.
  3. Of the 18 reported cases of shoplifting, 5 have resulted in arrests, at least  2 the direct result of surviellance video.

This article isn't very informative. It says 'most' cases were reported in RPM. Where were the others? The two mother-daughter cases were previously plastered all over the news. No new information there. Of the amount stolen, was any recovered? I am very critical of the article because it's empty, no meat.

Ross police, in general, don't reveal the names of victims. The article was designed to report on very general trends.
