Ross Police Help Nab Bank Robbery Suspect Armed with Containers of Gasoline, Shrapnel

Nathaniel Washington denied any involvement, and claims he was arrested "for no reason."

Ross Township police were first to stop and detain a bank robbery suspect Wednesday afternoon.

The officers spotted Nathaniel Washington, 36, of Perry North, at Ivory and Rodenbaugh Avenue. Washington matched the description of a suspect wanted for holding up the First First Niagara Bank on the 4000 block of Perrysville Avenue, according to a statement by Pittsburgh Police.

Pittsburgh police arrived and took Washington into custody.

Police recovered a knife, two baby food jars filled with gasoline, shrapnel, and all of the money taken from the bank.

Washington is charged with felony counts of arson, causing or risking a catastrophe, and robbery.
