What a joke a whole day off you have to be kidding me. At 7:30 this morning the roads were wet what a bunch of punks we have today. And by 2;00 PM today the snow will be gone. I sure hope the teachers have to make this day up. When I worked I would get up early and shovel myself out so I could get to work on time. This new generation is pathetic.

Computer Jim- Its not the teachers fault. I think that most if not all of them would want school to be in session so they wouldnt have to make the days up. Bravo by the way for getting up early to shovel yourself out *golf clap* Also...when you worked, did you have to walk up hills both ways in the driving rain or snow? Just wondering.

Thats another thing . They say they allow snowdays in the schedule so why do they have to make this one up ?
8:09 pm on Wednesday, March 6, 2013
I will tell you why Kevin, because they are off enough thru the year.

Snow make up days are not scheduled exclusively in the school schedule at North Hills. They are doubled up with holiday days off or parent/teacher conference days. For example, we missed a day in October in NH because of weather, so one day was cut from the spring break for a make up day (March 28th). Curiously, President's Day was earmarked as our first "snow make up day" but was not utilized for the Oct. cancellation. Now, we face either losing Friday, March 29th, too (also a "vacation day") or one of the two remaining "earmarked" make up days which are Monday, April 1st., and Tuesday, April 2nd. There are also parent teacher conferences on the 2nd., so in my best guestimation, if they can't use the 29th for some reason, then it will be the 1st, because I don't think they will reschedule conferences. I had a discussion with other parents on FB this morning about why the district doesn't just put three or four extra days into the schedule every year, and if they are not used, then shift the last day of school and we get out earlier! Wouldn't be last minute - we'd have a good idea by mid-March whether we needed the "extra" snow days or not....the calendar is never set in stone when school starts, anyway.

Now when I went to North Hills they allowed 1 week for snow days . What ever we didnt use was taken off at the end of the school year

Hey Greg you just dont get it. You are the type of guy who paid people to shovel your butt out because your to lazy to do it yourself. I know the type. JUST SAYING

How do you figure?
1:09 pm on Thursday, March 7, 2013
The teachers are off 2 1/2 months in the summer and have a month of holidays per year not a bad job and making over 60,000.00. And i forgot to mention free health insurance and two hour delays in snow or even cold weather that they dont have to make up. This is what I call a gravy job. And the teachers that have over 20 years they make much more than 60,000.00 per year, and they still cry about their job. If they had a real job they could not do it.

Jim If I may ask what did you do for a living ? The 2 1/2 months they are off they dont get paid unless they take a deduction from there checks throughout the school year so they get a check in the summer months . As far as 60 thousand a year I and many others dont think they get paid enough . If it is such an easy job why didnt you choose it as a career path

Kevin First of all it does not matter what I did for a living. And as far as the summer months I sure hope they do not get paid for the summer, if they did they would be making over 100,000.00 per year. And to answer your other question, one of the only reasons I did not become a school teacher was because they did not get paid enough when I was younger but then the UNION came. I could give you more reasons why, but I might get to deep for you. If you want to discuss this even more send me your e mail address and we can go from there.
