Wind, Rain, and Lightning Trigger Transformer Fires, Knock Down Trees in Ross Township

The cold front that triggered the storms moved through just before dawn.

While most Ross and West View residents were asleep, members of the Perrysville Volunteer Fire Company were busy checking for multiple transformer fires and downed trees early Saturday morning.

A powerful cold front that would eventually spawn a tornado in Queens, New York moved through just before daylight.

A large fallen tree closed a portion of Perry Highway for a short time until crews could clear it away.
