Honor For Fallen Marine And Parade Highlight Memorial Day In West View/Ross

A local American Legion Post will be renamed in honor of West View native.

West View borough will observe the holiday with its . 

It is hosted every year by the The parade steps off at 10 a.m. at the intersection of Highland Avenue and Perry highway, and ends at the VFW Post, at 386 Perry Highway. 

Each year, the parade features volunteer fire companies, marching bands, various Girl Scout troops, Veterans Association color guards, cheerleaders and more.

After the parade, in honor of a West View Marine who was killed in Afghanistan. 

Marine Sgt. Joseph D. Caskey was a West View native and 2004 graduate of North Hills High School. He died June 26, 2010.

The ceremony will begin at 12:45 p.m., following the post's Memorial Day service at noon at the Laurel Gardens World War II monument.
