The Kids Will Come Knocking Monday

Trick-or-treat night in the North Hills is scheduled to take place for both Ross and West View Monday evening.

West View and Ross Township Trick-or-Treat night will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31.

In Ross, expect to see the local volunteer fire departments and police cruisers out and about with their trucks and lights to help keep an eye on the streets.

Ross Township police also offers the following advice (also available in an attached flyer):

* Children should trick or treat with an adult and wear bright colors and use reflective tape.

* Don't accept baked or unwrapped treats. Adults should check all candy first.

* Be sure the children can hear and see properly with the costume on.

* Cross streets at corners. Don't walk onto the road from between cars.

* Beware of pets, especially dogs.

* Do not go into anyone's house.

What treats are your favorite to get or hand out? Which ones are the worst?

What tips do you have for those giving out treats for the first time this year in your neighborhood (amount of treats to get, for example)?

Editor's Note: And don't forget! You have until 9 p.m. Monday to enter your child in our Halloween costume contest! You could win a trip to meet Heidi Klum, and a donation to a local charity of your choice!
