'Pack the Truck' with School Supplies for Students in Need

Giant Eagle and WPXI will collect school supplies Wednesday for local students.

WPXI and Giant Eagle are teaming up to collect school supplies on Wednesday, Aug. 21 in Ross Township to help students in need.

The "Pack The Truck" event will take place from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. at WPXI, 4145 Evergreen Road, Ross. 

The following supplies are needed: pencils, crayons, glue, tape, binders, rulers and scissors. For a complete list of items needs, click here

Trucks will also be located in the parking lot at the Giant Eagle store in Shaler Township at 1617 Butler Plank Road; and the Giant Eagle in Monroeville at 4010 Monroeville Boulevard.

The Education Partnership will distribute supplies to local teachers at no charge to be used in their classrooms for the new school year. 

This school year, The Education Partnership is expected to serve 7,500 students and 750 teachers, providing them with school and classroom supplies.  Since 2010, the organization has distributed more than $1.8 million in free supplies.
