New McKnight GetGo Appears to Ease Congestion at Old Babcock Location

Backups at the pumps and heavy traffic around the Babcock Boulevard GetGo have lessened.

While business remains brisk at the new GetGo at the corner of McKnight Road and Browns Lane, sales have apparently slowed at the GetGo store and gas station nearby at 5603 Babcock Boulevard.

But that's not necessarily a bad thing. Nearby residents had complained often about traffic backing up along Babcock Boulevard, as drivers waited, not always patiently, to redeem their fuelperks.

When announcing its plans for the new McKnight Road GetGo, that the company hoped construction of the new GetGo would alleviate some of the congestion around its Babcock location.

The prediction appears to have come true.

"You don't have the congestion at the pumps anymore," remarked a clerk at the Babcock GetGo. "We used to get two tanker trucks in here a day, one in the morning and one in the evening. Now, it's just one truck a day."

But that doesn't mean business has died off completely.

"We still have our loyal customers who come in here all of the time for gas and lottery tickets," said the clerk. "But with the new place open up, they have a hot kitchen so more people go down there for the food and such."
