'Off The Hook’ Seafood Restaurant Hopes to Reel in North Hills Area Diners

Former Monterey Bay Fish Grotto owners walk away from the veteran restaurant to create new venture.

Story by editor Jessica Sinichak.

Glenn and Lisa Hawley know their fresh fish.

As the owners of Monterey Bay Fish Grotto, which has locations in Pittsburgh and Monroeville, the Wexford-based couple earned numerous awards and accolades for their signature seafood dishes.

But after years at the helm of Monteray Bay, the Hawleys decided to walk away from it all—and create a new seafood concept north of Pittsburgh.

Off the Hook is now open in the Warrendale Village complex located off Route 19.

The new, expansive, restaurant features an open oyster bar, where guests can observe chefs shucking the oysters, as well as an extensive wine by the glass program.

Another unique concept is the chef’s table inside the kitchen, where guests will have a front seat as the chef prepares their favorite dishes.

When the owners decided to call the restaurant “Off the Hook,” they meant just that. Fresh fish from everywhere from Hawaii to Alaska is flown in daily to the restaurant.

Besides seafood, Off the Hook offers USDA Prime steaks, vegetarian and gluten free options.
