Pittsburgh Airport Updates Mobile Website, Travel Tips

Flying during the Thanksgiving holiday? Be sure to read the Pittsburgh International Airport's checklist first.

Before you catch your holiday flight, check out the Pittsburgh International Airport's tips to make your time in the terminal as painless as possible.

  • The airport has recently upgraded its mobile website. Go to www.flypittsburgh.mobi to find real-time flight tracking, parking options and dining and shopping information.
  • If you’re packing light, head to the Express Lane at the main checkpoint to speed up your wait time. This feature is for passengers who are carrying only one piece of luggage.
  • Remember: There are two checkpoint areas of the airport. The main checkpoint, located on the transit level of the landside terminal, is open 24 hours per day. The alternate checkpoint, located just outside of the ticketing level of the landside terminal, is open from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Arrive at the airport two hours prior to the flight.
  • Don’t travel with wrapped items. Security screeners may have to unwrap packages to inspect its content.
  • Medicine and valuables, such as jewelry, should be packed in your carry-on luggage.
  • Shoes and coats should be easily removable.
  • Every piece of luggage should be marked with you name, address and contact number.
  • Read more about guidelines for carry-on luggage and security information at www.tsa.gov. Certain policies have been recently updated. For instance, children younger than 12 no longer have to remove their shoes at checkpoints.
