Environmental Groups Plan Earth Day, Spring Clean-up Events in North Park

Friends of North Park and the North Area Environmental Council seek volunteer helpers to remove litter from the lake and throughout the park.

Friends of North Park and the North Area Environmental Council are seeking volunteers and making plans for two spring cleanup events—one in April, another in May—in North Park.

The first event is set for Saturday, April 20, during Earth Day weekend. Organizers say they plan to gather at 9 a.m. to remove litter from various locations around the park. Participants should meet at the cabin on Ingomar Road, near the intersection of Babcock Boulevard and Wildwood Road.

A Lake & Land Clean-up also is planned for Saturday, May 4 and will involve working both on the lake in water craft and along the lake's shoreline on foot. Participants should meet at noon at the North Park Rose Barn on Pearce Mill Road, across from the North Park Boathouse.

Gloves, safety vests and trash bags will be supplied. Participants should wear sturdy footwear, long pants and longsleeve shirts and are encouraged to bring protective gear for eyes.

Refreshments will be served at the end of each event.
