May Is National Bike Month—Will You Take Part?

Bike to School Day is May 8, and Bike to Work Week is May 13-17.

The League of American Bicyclists recognizes May as National Bike Month, and with that, May 8 as National Bike to School Day and May 13-17 as National Bike to Work Week.

According to YouCanBikeThere.com, which actually recognizes Bike to Work Day as May 9, the benefits of riding a bike to work or to school are many, including contributing to a cleaner environment. For examples, bicycling uses no gasoline and doesn't require batteries or motor oil. It also takes less energy to build a bike than it does a car.

Also, "Bicycling significantly reduces transportation emissions while also reducing traffic congestion," the website states.
