Blue Water Navy Vietnam Veterans Act

As many of you may or may not know, the House is currently considering a bill that will extend presumptive AO service connected disability benefits to Vietnam Veterans who were at sea. At this point in time, 155 members have co-sponsored the bill with 48 Republicans and 107 Democrats.  As a service connected disabled veteran who suffers from ailments related to AO, I know first-hand how important these benefits are.  To be absolutely clear, it shouldn’t matter if you were boots on the ground or at sea. They served and many of them were drafted and we should therefore take care of them.

On a related note, 5 of the 6 PA representatives supporting the bill are Republicans. Of this 5 three were against the using the debt ceiling as a gambling chip to defund Obama Care. As I’ve mentioned several times, I’m no fan of the ACA but that was the wrong approach to repeal it. We failed and looked horrible in doing so. I applaud representatives Gerlach, Meehan and Fitzpatrick for their leadership on these issues. Who isn’t on the list? You guessed it… the reason I’m running for Congress, Keith Rothfus. When it comes to veterans he’s big on rhetoric and weak on tangible results.
