Burglars Hit Three North Hills Restaurants

All three restaurants are located within four miles of each other.

Police in Shaler and Hampton believe the same people are responsible for three separate burglaries of restaurants along Route 8 early Monday morning, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported.

Hampton Police Detective Robert Kirsopp told the Post-Gazette he believes the burglaries at Spadafora's Bar and Restaurant and China Bistro in Hampton and Casey's family restaurant in Shaler are related.

The restaurants are located along a four-mile stretch of Route 8. Click on view larger map for each restaurant's exact location.

Police told the PG that cash was taken from cash registers are all three restaurants, between 2 and 4:30 a.m. Evidence indicated that in all three cases, two people forced their way in through the back door of the restaurants, the PG reported.

It's not clear if Monday's break-ins are connected to the Friday morning burglary at Kretzler's tavern on Babcock Boulevard in Ross. Two men broke into the rear of the restaurant and made off with a small floor safe.

"They're different but a connection is possible," said Ross Detective Brian Kohlhepp. "It's certainly not out of the realm of possibilities so we are comparing notes with the Hampton and Shaler investigators."
