Man Who Fled West View Police Faces Judge

An 18-year-old who learned he would be arraigned on a warrant tried to escape arrest Dec. 15, by running from the Magisterial District Court 05-2-02 in West View.

 

Jordan Scott, 18, of Mount Oliver, was arrested Dec. 15 in West View for fleeing Magisterial District Judge Richard Opiela's courtroom, according to West View Police. 

Police allege that Scott ran after learning he would be arraigned on a warrant. He was caught at West View Auto Body at 420 Perry Highway, by an officer and a constable who chased after him.

Today Scott appeared before West View Magisterial District Judge Richard G. Opiela for a hearing on disorderly conduct and escape charges stemming from that incident. 

Scott has been housed in the Allegheny County jail since being apprehended on Dec. 15. Today Judge Opiela sentenced Scott to time served for fleeing.

At the conclusion of the hearing, Opiela said to Scott, “Okay, here’s the story—don’t disobey police officers when they give you an order…you put yourself and these officers in peril.”

Scott responded, “Yes sir.”
