Neighbors Supporting West View Fire Victims, How You Can Help

The Lightsey family lost everything in Sunday night's fire.

The Allegheny County and West View Fire Marshals say the cause of Sunday night's fire at 17 Fairview Avenue remains undetermined.

"We know it started in the living room on the first floor," said Allegheny County Deputy Fire Marshal Don Brucker. "The cause is still under investigation."

The fire destroyed the home of the Lightsey family but fortunately, no one was hurt.

Now neighbors are pitching in to help. Within days of the fire, the three boys who attend West View Elementary, and their sister, a student at North Hills Junior High School, had plenty of donated clothing.

"What the family really needs now are household goods," said neighbor Marianne Uechi who helping collect donations. "Kitchen utensils, small appliances, bedding, or Giant Eagle gift cards, anything like that would really help."

Uechi is collecting donations at her home at 15 Fordham Avenue in West View. Call 412-415-1145 if you have questions.

Donations are also being collected at West View Elementary school during school hours.

For now, the family is staying with friends.
