North Hills DUI Task Force Nets Seven Arrests at Checkpoint

Police revealed earlier this week that the checkpoint would be set up sometime over the weekend.

Police made seven arrests for driving under the influence at a sobriety checkpoint along Route 910 in West Deer Friday night, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported.

In addition, officers issued six citations for various vehicle code violations, and four vehicle code warnings, the paper reported.

The North Hills DUI Task Force, which includes officers from Etna, Indiana, Northern Regional, O'Hara, Ross, Shaler, West Deer, and West View, said a total of 577 vehicles passed through the checkpoint.

A roving DUI patrol in West Deer, Indiana Township, and Richland also made one arrest for DUI under the age of 21, one underage drinking offense, one arrest for drug paraphernalia, three citations for various traffic violations and 43 written warnings, the P-G reported.
