Remains Found in Cranberry May Be Missing Beaver County Man

Investigators find a wallet with identification in it near where the skeletal remains were discovered Saturday.

The human remains found along a wooded area of Dutilh Road in Cranberry over the weekend may be those of a Beaver County man reported missing in July, investigators said.

Sgt. Chuck Mascellino said police would not release the name of the man, who is believed to be in his 40s, until a positive identification is made on the remains.

“We have a tentative idea of who it is,” Mascellino said.

Mascellino said a number of families of missing people reached out to police after the discovery was made, including the family of the Beaver County man. There are no missing person reports in Cranberry, Mascellino said.

A forensic anthropology team led by Dr. Dennis Dirkmatt from Mercyhurst University in Erie is assisting authorities in identifying the remains.

Mascellino said an identification on the remains could be made within the next few weeks.
