Ross Mom Faces Charges After Police Bust Daughter's Sweet 16 Bash

A mother from Ross Township has been charged with 23 counts of supplying alcohol to minors in connection with her daughter's sweet 16 birthday party.

Robin Marie Sayers, 48, of Mazer Avenue, is facing 23 misdemeanor counts of selling or furnishing liquor or malt or brewed beverages to minors. If convicted, Sayers would qualify for fines of more than $50,000. 

According to court documents, on Nov. 26 police received a call from a man who said that his teenage daughter was “highly intoxicated” after attending a friend’s party.

Officers responded to that party, which was being held at a rented hall at 300 Camp Horne Road. There, officers said they found “cups filled with beer as well as several bottles of liquor” and also “witnessed people drinking.”

“We found a large number of underage individuals, some of which were drinking, [and] half-barrels of beer there. And no parental supervision,” Ohio Township Police Chief Norbert Miklos said. 

Police charge that Sayers was supervising the party, that she was present at the time the underage drinking took place and that she did not attempt to stop the party. 

Police said they tested partygoers for the presence of alcohol and said that those tests determined that 23 people under age 21 had been drinking while at the party.

“An adult to supply alcohol to minors, it happens [and] it could have been serious, one of those kids could have gotten into an accident or hurt,” Miklos said.

A preliminary hearing for Sayers is scheduled for Jan. 26 before Magisterial District Judge Tara Smith.

A call seeking comment from Sayers’ attorney has not been returned.
