Swat Incident Ends with Suicide in Ross Township

Police responded to reports a man had barricaded himself inside a home.

Ross Township police say an incident, which required the deployment of the North Hills Special Response Team Thursday afternoon, ended in a suicide.

Police were responding to reports that a man, threatening to take his own life, might be barricaded inside a home near the intersection of Mount Troy Road and Mount Troy Road Extension.

A short time after police arrived, it was evident the man had taken his own life.

As a precaution, police closed off several streets in the area and school children on one North Hills bus route were dropped off at the entrance to St. Mary's cemetery in a police officer's care.
