Three-Vehicle Collision Slows Traffic on Babcock Boulevard

No one is hurt in the accident.

A three-vehicle collision slowed traffic Monday afternoon on a stretch of Babcock Boulevard between Three Degree Road and Brown's Lane in Ross Township.

No one was hurt in the accident, which occurred shortly after 1 p.m. in the northbound lanes, directly across from the GetGo convenience store and gas station at 5603 Babcock Boulevard.

A red convertible was struck from behind by a silver sedan, which was then hit by a white van.

Police are investigating the cause of the accident.

My sentiments exactly, BTD! I am inclined to think there should be a center turning lane constructed. I am not sure if there is enough road width to do so, but some sort of study should be done to investigate the possibility.

This is such a BAD location for a GetGo, I myself had been hit last year while waiting for someone to turn into the gas station, 4 cars involved. This stretch is always an accident waiting to happen, something should be done about it, I agree with Carol~~

I hear a new Get-Go is moving into McKnight across from big McDonald's. If that's the case, they should close this one before someone gets killed.

There is a new GetGo opening on McKnight: http://northhills.patch.com/articles/former-demor-s-dealership-demolished-in-ross-township#photo-11171978 but I don't believe Giant Eagle has any intention of closing its Babcock Blvd. location.

well that's a better location, but Babcock should go, much to dangerous~~~

The reason I have always been in favor of the McKnight/Browns GetGo is due to the problems the Babcock station has created since it took over for CoGo's. The nearest GetGos are Camp Horne to the west and Hampton to the east. Neither is particularly close for those who are coming up and down McKnight, commuting to points in Ross, McCandless, and West View. The new station would be a nightmare if it were the only GetGo in the area; the addition of two GetGos should help the traffic problems on either end considerably. Yes, there will be some additional traffic along Browns Lane, but it shouldn't be much worse than what Amarraca and Del-Ney's brought ages ago. Keep in mind we have two McDonald's and two Eat n Parks along McKnight and while all can get crowded, imagine what would happen if we only had one of each. We have tons of the same thing down here in Charlotte, which has been great for avoiding overly crowded locations. The same should apply for the gas stations, especially since they are probably no more than a mile apart.
