West View Police Arrest Four Boys After BB Gun Theft, Chase One Over Hill

The extent of the boy's injuries after running from police and sliding down a steep hillside near Oakwood and Center Avenues is not known. Police call an ambulance as a precaution.

One young man was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries Monday night after fleeing from a West View police officer and sliding down a steep hillside near the intersection of Oakwood and Center avenues. 

He was one of four juveniles, whoses ages were not immediately released, arrested by police for the retail theft of a BB pellet gun at at about 8 p.m., according to West View Officer Matt Pavlecic. 

In addition to the stolen gun, the juveniles were found with a bookbag containing black clothing and a black ski mask, he said.

Police arrested two of the four at about 9:30 p.m. Officers spotted the other two on Center Avenue later that night. One of the youths ran when the officers approached, and an officer pursued him over the hillside, Pavlecic said. 

The extent of the boy's injuries are not known this morning. Pavlecic said police called an ambulance as a precaution.

"Everybody's OK," he said. 

Charges are pending, he said.
