Ross Approves Noise Variance for Best Buy Work

A contractor for Best Buy plans to repair a curb in front of the store between the hours of 10 p.m. and 9 a.m. starting Sept. 17.

A noise variance request was granted by Ross Township Commissioners Monday for repairs to a concrete curb on the property at 4801 McKnight Road.

The work, which will include removal of about 180 feet of concrete, will take place between the hours of 10 p.m. and 9 a.m., starting Sept. 17. The work is expected to take three weeks to complete.

The commissioners qualified their approval by requesting that the work producing the most noise — the concrete removal — be done after 6 a.m.

The variance was requested in order to keep the work from interrupting the normal business hours of the store, said Clint Rounsfull, representing the contractor, Rectenwald Brothers

The store is open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, according to its website.

"I don't think we'll be making a whole lot of noise for too long," Rounsfull said.

He said the concrete removal portion of the work should take about two to four days.

The variance was approved 7-0. Commissioner Grace Stanko was absent.
