Ross Board Meets Tonight; Agenda Includes Public Hearing, Bartlett Field Shed Approval

The Ross Township Board of Commissioners will meet tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the  at 1000 Ross Municipal Drive. 

The agenda includes a public hearing on a developer's request to rezone property at the corner of Perry Highway and Rochester Road. 

Orion Development, a real estate development and construction company based in Weirton, WV, has asked the Ross Township Board of Commissioners to consider its request to change the zoning classification for the 1.78-acre corner lot at 628 Perry Highway and 10 Rochester Road. The company wants the township to rezone the property from an R-1 residential district to a C-3 commercial district, the most restrictive commercial option.

The agenda also includes consideration of an ordinance to clarify definitions and rules in the township code with regard to commercial outdoor display and storage, and the uses permitted by landscape contracting and supply businesses and greenhouses. 

In addition, the Commissioners will consider a request by The North Hills Athletic Association, which is proposing to build a storage shed at  that can also double as an extra viewing area for those coming to watch games played at the ballfield.

Resolutions will also be considered to approve the demolition of blighted structures at 331 Bellevue Road, 306 North Balph Avenue, and 192 Reis Run Road. 

Before the board meeting, the Ross Board committee will meet to discuss the appointments of Steve Korbel and Shea McKinney to an economic development subcommittee being formed jointly by elected officials in Ross Township, West View Borough and the North Hills School District. 

The subcommittee is part of a  at a time when revenues for public services and projects are predicted to be flat over the next few years. 

The joint effort is still unnamed and was informally kicked off at the beginning of the month. More meetings are being planned for the fall.
