Ross Commissioners Approve Resident's Request for Vacant Land Purchase

The property, which no longer has a structure, is being purchased under the Redevelopment Authority of Allegheny County's Vacant Property Recovery Program.

Ross Commissioners unanimously approved a resolution Monday authorizing a resident to purchase a property under the Redevelopment Authority of Allegheny County's Vacant Property Recovery Program.

According to the Pittsburgh Post Gazette, the property at 124 Varney St. has been vacant for awhile, but next door neighbor Leah Warmkessel says people are using the overgrown land as a dumping ground.

Warmkessel told officials the process will take some time because the redevelopment authority has to try and find the owner or rightful heirs to the property, purchased in 1928.
