Ross Township Commission Agenda Includes Holly Hill Leases, Appointments to Economic Development Committee

The Board of Commissioners meet tonight, July 11, at 7:30 p.m.

The Ross Township Board of Commissioners will meet tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the at 1000 Ross Municipal Drive. 

The agenda includes a request by St. Teresa of Avila Parish to place a banner across Perry Highway and Good Lane to advertise the parish festival which is scheduled to take place August 22 through August 27, and a request by Hampton Technical Associates for a lot line revision on property at 208 Twin Oaks Drive.

The agenda also includes a request by the Commission’s legislative committee to execute a lease agreement between Ross Township and Holly Hill residents Lisa and Robert Derbis at 300 Holly Hill Drive.

The lease is to allow the Derbis family to continue using a slice of Ross Township property where they placed an above-ground swimming pool. and it would remain in place until the property is sold or transferred to new owners, according to the draft agreement.

Ross Township is also also seeking a lease agreement with another Holly Hill neighbor, the owners of 302 Holly Drive, Margaret and David Stettner, who added a shed on the township property. That agreement is not on tonight’s agenda.

A committee meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m., before the regularly scheduled Commissioners’ meeting. Items for discussion include a request by the North Hills Athletic Association, which is seeking to build a storage shed and bathrooms at .

The committee will also discuss appointing commissioners to an economic development subcommittee being formed jointly by elected officials in Ross Township, West View Borough and the North Hills School District.

The subcommittee is part of a at a time when revenues for public services and projects are predicted to be flat over the next few years.

The joint effort is still unnamed and was informally kicked off at the beginning of the month. More meetings are being planned for the fall.

The committee will also be discussing the Civil Service Commission’s submitted list of names for the position of lieutenant, as well as the township policy regarding outside employment for police and other township employees.
