Talk about a reason to smile, I recently had the opportunity to interview each of the 50 Finest as they stepped off the stage at this year’s Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Gala.  Each and every one of them was smiling on the outside and my guess is they were smiling on the inside too!  Many were smiling because of a sense of pride for being publicly acknowledged for their work and achievement, others were smiling ear -to -ear because of their sense of gratitude for being a part of something that is so much bigger than just one person and others still were smiling just because they were having fun…I would guess most were smiling because of a combination of all three factors.  I was smiling in part, because all that smiling was contagious J

There are plenty of reasons to Smile in life, and here are just a few:

·      Smiling is a Universal way of communicating joy, happiness and satisfaction…from primitive to Third World cultures and from East to West…Smile and the World Smiles back.

·      Simply the act of smiling signals to our brains that we are happy.   As our brain receives that “happiness message,” it then continues the feedback loop and reinforces our feelings of happiness.  In short, happiness begets happiness!

·      Smiling helps to generate positive emotions and this reduces stress levels in the mind and body.

·      When we smile, others are more likely to trust us and be more open to cooperation.

·      Smiling brings with it positive energy that helps us to see and think more expansively.

For many of the 50 Finest that evening represents a peak experience for them or their happiest or proudest moment in life.  Everyone of us have had peak experiences or  have our own “very best memories”.  For some, it is when we fell in love, got married, had a child, reached a goal or traveled to an exotic locale.  My friend, Dan, will always remember standing on the American Idol stage performing live to the world.  Regardless of what they are, those memories, while powerful in “real time,” offer us an opportunity to build upon so that in the future when we are struggling, stuck, sad, angry or lonely we can have an arsenal of happiness to fall back on.

·      I developed the Inner-Smile Technique that enables you to have a reliable reason to smile and feel better anytime, anywhere and under any conditions

·      Its easier than you think and you will be glad you did
