North Hills Junior High Teachers Awarded Grant

The grant will be used to during a daylong PSSA reading readiness day in April.

A pair of North Hills School District teachers recently were selected to receive a Alpha Delta Kappa Support Learning grant that will fund a special program to helpstruggling students reach educational benchmarks on the 2013 Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSA) exams.

North Hills Junior High School English teachers Vicki Truchan and Nate Wilkinson plan to use the $300 grant during a daylong PSSA reading readiness day based upon “The Hunger Games” novel on April 5.

“If a student can read, that student has multiple doors that will swing wide open for him or her. The event will help our students become engaged and excited to learn reading skills that they can use on the PSSA exams and in life,” said Truchan and Wilkinson.
