North Hills Musicians and Vocalist Chosen for Regional Festivals

At the regional festivals, students will audition for the PMEA All-State Band, Orchestra and Choral festivals slated for April in Erie.

North Hills Senior High School musicians and a vocalist recently were selected from a vast pool of talent to attend upcoming Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) regional band, orchestra and choral festivals.

Junior Nathan Spear – Bass I was chosen to represent North Hills at the PMEA Region I Choral Festival at Moon Area High School on March 20 to 22. A total of 150 students from PMEA District 1 and District 5 were chosen from an audition during the recent PMEA district choral festivals.

Juniors Elena Gowdy – clarinet and Stephen Knott – cornet and sophomores Alexa Galdes – French horn and Tommy Urich – trombone advanced to the PMEA Regional Band festival to be held at Mercer High School on March 7 to 9. The festival combines the talents of 150 students from Lawrence, Butler, Mercer, Beaver, Allegheny, Washington, Greene, Westmoreland and Fayette county school districts.

Junior Samantha Bell – French horn and sophomore Christie Adamiak – violin qualified for the PMEA Western Region Orchestra to be held at Hollidaysburg Area HighSchool on Feb. 21 to 23. They are two of only approximately 160 students chosen from 33 counties.

At the regional festivals, students will audition for the PMEA All-State Band, Orchestra and Choral festivals slated for April in Erie.
