North Hills Teacher & Board Member Honored for Volunteer Work
Both will be honored at event on Sept. 22.
Jeff Keenan, a social studies teacher, and Tom Baker, a North Hills School District Board of Education member, have been selected along with their spouses, as two of Pittsburgh’s Finest Couples for a Cure by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
The couples were chosen based upon their leadership and commitment to helping their community. They will be honored along with five other couples during the fifth annual Pittsburgh’s Finest Couples for the Cure Event at the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts on Sept. 22.
“At North Hills School District, we instill the value of volunteerism into our students. As this recognition shows, this message is embraced districtwide by our board members, teachers and staff members as well as our students,” said North Hills Superintendent Dr. Patrick J. Mannarino.

“I admire the dedication of Mr. Keenan and Mr. Baker and their involvement shows that when one gives of their time and talents selflessly there are incredible rewards for an entire community.”
The Keenans are organizing a “Jeans for Genes Day” in North Hills School District to raise additional funds for cystic fibrosis research. The Bakers have held two unique fundraisers to heighten awareness of cystic fibrosis including a Pittsburgh Pirates game and tailgate event and a Home Run Derby for Cystic Fibrosis.
