North Hills Teacher Receives $1,100 in Free School Supplies

The supplies and award are part of the nationwide A Day Made Better campaign founded by office supply store OfficeMax and Adopt-A-Classroom that donates $1 million dollars in school supplies across the country.

North Hills School District and McIntyre Elementary School sixth-grade teacher Barbra Weaver was one of 1,000 teachers across the United States surprised with $1,100 worth of school supplies and an award on Oct. 1.

McIntyre Elementary School is one of only two schools in the Pittsburgh area to receive the award this year. Weaver was surprised in her classroom by OfficeMax representatives and Principal Amy Mathieu, who nominated her for the honor. Her package of free school supplies included a Kindle Fire HD, a Canon Powershot digital camera, notebooks, markers, a labeling machine, folders and mechanical pencils in addition to many other items.

The supplies and award are part of the nationwide A Day Made Better campaign founded by office supply store OfficeMax and Adopt-A-Classroom that donates $1 million dollars in school supplies across the country. The annual campaign seeks to reward and recognize teachers for their dedication in the classroom and encourage support for teachers across the United States.
