The North Hills Future Business Leaders of America entrepreneurship team finished eighth in the commonwealth at the 2012 Pennsylvania FBLA State Leadership Conference held April 16-18 in Hershey.
The team of seniors Dan Kaminski and Matt Stiehler and junior Sarah Schwartz was recognized with a plaque during the Awards of Excellence Program.
At the state competition, the North Hills Entrepreneurship Team finished within the top 10 among 32 competing FBLA chapters to move on to the second round. Round two required team members to present their ideas for a case study—requiring quick-thinking, team decision-making, and presentation skills.
Other highlights of the conference included: a keynote speech by Josh Sundquist, author, speaker and Paralympian; the election of a new state officer team; as well as leadership and personal development workshops.
Dan, Matt and Sarah qualified to attend and compete at the FBLA State Leadership Conference by earning first place at the regional FBLA competition in December.
The FBLA chapter advisor is Kellee Kanith, business education teacher.
