Three North Hills Seniors Place Eighth in State Conference for Future Business Leaders

Future Business Leaders of America is a national career and technical student organization. The North Hills High School chapter has 19 members.

The North Hills Future Business Leaders of America entrepreneurship team finished eighth in the commonwealth at the 2012 Pennsylvania FBLA State Leadership Conference held April 16-18 in Hershey. 

The team of seniors Dan Kaminski and Matt Stiehler and junior Sarah Schwartz was recognized with a plaque during the Awards of Excellence Program. 

At the state competition, the North Hills Entrepreneurship Team finished within the top 10 among 32 competing FBLA chapters to move on to the second round. Round two required team members to present their ideas for a case study—requiring quick-thinking, team decision-making, and presentation skills.

Other highlights of the conference included: a keynote speech by Josh Sundquist, author, speaker and Paralympian; the election of a new state officer team; as well as leadership and personal development workshops.

Dan, Matt and Sarah qualified to attend and compete at the FBLA State Leadership Conference by earning first place at the regional FBLA competition in December.

The FBLA chapter advisor is Kellee Kanith, business education teacher. 

Future Business Leaders of America is a national career and technical student organization whose mission is to bring business and education together in a positive working relationship through innovative leadership and career development programs.

The current 19 members in the North Hills High School chapter are a part of the Pennsylvania membership of approximately 13,500 in nearly 280 schools.
