Coming Home: North Hills Native Brandon Saad Celebrates Stanley Cup
The Chicago Blackhawks hockey star is the first Pittsburgh-born-and-trained player to ever win the Cup.

As part of the Chicago Blackhawks, North Hills native Brandon Saad won the Stanley Cup. And on Thursday, he got to spend the day with it.
The hockey star, a Pine-Richland grad, hosted about 600 friends and family members at a party with the Cup held at the Treesdale Country Club, WPXI reports.

“It’s the best part about it,” Saad told the news station. “You get to win the Cup and obviously hoisting it is fun. But to be able to bring it home to your hometown and share it with family and friends makes it all come true.”
The Blackhawks selected Saad with the 43rd pick in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.

He is the first Pittsburgh-born-and-trained player to ever win the Cup, according to WPXI.
Saad’s father, George Saad, told the news station he is proud of his son’s accomplishments.
“God bless America,” he said. “It's the only place on Earth where you can chase your dreams, and your dreams can come true. And honestly, this whole year has been like a dream. And for Brandon, it came true.”
