Football Preview: North Hills Hosts Central Catholic

The Vikings are expected to present a formidable challenge when they take the field at Martorelli Stadium Friday night.

Head coach Pat Carey's squad is expected to have its hands full when the North Hills Indians (1-0) host the Central Catholic Vikings (1-0) Friday at 7:30 p.m.

North Hills is coming off a 21-14 win on the road last week against Penn-Trafford.  Central Catholic was also on the road last week, crushing Shaler 65-3.

The Post-Gazette's Mike White writes that Central Catholic is the "team to beat" in the Northern Eight conference:

"This team is strong in a number of areas, including the lines, where Terrence Stanton, Steve Wood, Zack DeLuca and Angelo Natter all return. Stanton and DeLuca were first-team all-conference selections. Quarterback J.J. Cosentino threw for only 552 yards last season but is committed to Florida State. Luigi Lista-Brinza rushed for 960 yards and receiver Shafer Swann, son of former Steeler Lynn Swann, led the team in receptions. Defensive back Tre Tarpley and linebacker Niko Thorpe are two to watch on defense."

If you can't make it to the game, you can listen to it live on the MSA Sports Network.
