Ross Commissioners Consider Floating Fountain for Evergreen Park

The fountain would serve two purposes at the park's Frank Zotter pond.

Ross Township Commissioners are considering the installation of a $12,000 aerating, floating pond at Frank Zotter pond, located at Evergreen Community Park.

The pond is the site of the township's popular, annual summer fishing tournament.

The fishing tournament is held in mid-July, but by late summer many fish start to die because of a "lack of oxygen" in the water, said Commissioner David Mikec. "I see the fish floating there every August."

"The fountain would not only be decorative, it would also circulate more oxygen into the water," said Public Works Director Mike Funk.

The issue could come up for a vote at the next commissioner's meeting in April.
