Residents are encouraged to simply pick up the trash, whether it is around their home, street, neighborhood, or nearby business.
The idea of the pick-up night comes from Mary Beth Marsh, a West View paramedic.
“I wanted to do a community service thing to help get the word out that here is a republican committee in West View,” she said.
Filling the trash bags is the only requirement. Kilmartin said that West View Borough manager and police chief Bruce Fromlak has agreed to have borough workers pick up the trash bags from anywhere along the streets of West View on Friday morning.
“For those who cannot gather at K-Mart Thursday evening, we are encouraging them to join us in spirit and pick up trash at home that night,” Kilmartin said.
“The ultimate goal is to bring us together as a community in a sense of solidarity and pride to preserve the beauty of West View.”
