North Hills Hosts Allegheny Valley Marching Band Festival

Five things you need to know about the 53rd annual event at Martorelli Stadium.

The following information was provided by North Hills School District Communications Coordinator Amanda Hartle.

The 53rd annual North Hills Marching Band Festival will be held in conjunction with the Allegheny Valley Marching Band Festival for the first time as a special combination event this year. The festival will be held on Sept. 14 at 7 p.m. at Martorellli Stadium. At least 10 local high school marching bands are scheduled to perform.
1. Bands
Allegheny Valley marching bands from Hampton, North Allegheny, North Hills, Northgate, Pine-Richland, Riverview and Shaler high schools will perform.

2. Special guests
Marching bands from Fort LeBoeuf, Quaker Valley and South Fayette high schools.

3. North Hills’ pregame program
Features senior trumpet players on a special arrangement of “America the Beautiful,” and the march show includes the music of composer John Williams with selections from “Superman,” “Star Wars,” and “Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark.” The band’s performances also will showcase music from the acclaimed musical “West Side Story” and current pop hits like “We Are Young” by Fun.

4. Admission
Admission to the event is $6.  Children age 5 and under receive free admission. Refreshments and other items will be available for purchase. 

5. Parking
Is free at the Park & Ride lot located just north of the Perrysville Avenue exit of I-279.

The marching band festival is sponsored by the North Hills Instrumental Parents’ Association. In the event of rain, the event will be relocated to the North Hills Middle School gymnasium at 55 Rochester Road in Ross Township.
