Demolition to Begin Soon to Make Way for New Ross Restaurant

Rum Runners Saloon hopes to open by November.

After waiting for months to get all of the necessary permits, North Park Lounge owner Mark Baranowski hopes to begin renovations on the former Sunseri's restaurant at 3385 Babcock Boulevard by the end of the month.

"The permitting process took much longer than expected," he said. "I'm just glad we are finally about to start."

Baranowksi said the entire right half of the existing structure will be torn down, and rebuilt at the same height as the left half of the building, in order to stay above the flood plane. He hopes construction will begin in about four weeks and is aiming to be open by November 1.

The restaurant's menu will be similar to the original North Park Lounge, featuring a wide variety of sandwiches, some entrees, and plenty of appetizers and munchies.

It will also feature entertainment, similar to its predecessor, Jergel's.

Baranowski will look to hire 50 - 70 employees. Applicants can e-mail him at Mark@northparklounge.com.
